TeacherActive is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with Special Needs Experience to join a supportive school environment in Newton Abbot. This role requires a proactive individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs, particularly those stemming from trauma and social-emotional mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the classroom teacher in providing tailored support for students with special educational needs (SEN).
Work closely with children who have additional needs, particularly those affected by trauma and social-emotional difficulties.
Create a nurturing and safe environment that fosters emotional and academic development.
Support children with behavioural needs and implement strategies to support positive learning experiences.
Foster strong communication with parents and other staff members to ensure the best outcomes for students.
Requirements:
Previous experience supporting children with special needs, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.
Ability to work effectively in a classroom setting and provide 1:1 or group support as needed.
Must drive and have access to your own car.
Passionate, patient, and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable children.
Ability to manage challenging behaviour and implement appropriate strategies.
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
Salary:
£92.63 - £95 per day, depending on experience.
