How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: BTEC Assignment Marker / Lecturer – Travel & Tourism

    Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (until end of summer term)
    Department: Travel & Tourism / Business & Service Industries
    Location: Cambridge
    Hours: Full time

    About the Role

    We are seeking a dedicated and experienced BTEC Assignment Marker/Lecturer to join our team on a temporary basis, likely until the end of the summer term.

    This role is centred on supporting the marking, assessment, and quality assurance of BTEC assignments, with a particular focus on the Travel & Tourism curriculum area. You will work closely with the curriculum team to ensure that learner work is assessed accurately, consistently, and in line with BTEC specifications.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced BTEC practitioner who enjoys assessment-focused work and supporting learner progression.

    Key Responsibilities

    Assessment & Marking

    Mark and assess BTEC assignments to awarding body standards

    Apply BTEC assessment criteria accurately and consistently

    Provide clear, constructive written feedback to learners

    Ensure all marking is completed to deadlines and to a high standard

    Quality Assurance

    Support internal verification processes where required

    Work collaboratively with curriculum staff to ensure compliance with BTEC requirements

    Maintain accurate assessment records and contribute to audit readiness

    Collaboration & Support

    Liaise effectively with the course team to ensure consistency of grading

    Share good practice and support improvements in assessment processes

    Contribute to a positive, learner-focused culture within the department

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    Strong experience in marking BTEC assignments (essential)

    A background in Travel & Tourism, either through teaching or industry (desirable)

    OR significant BTEC teaching/assessment experience in related vocational areas

    A thorough understanding of BTEC grading, assessment criteria, and QA processes

    Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

    The ability to work independently and meet marking deadlines

    Strong written communication skills and a learner-centred approach
