How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    CNC Turner – Setter / Operator

    Location: Bedford
    Job Type: Permanent

    We are currently recruiting for a skilled CNC Turner (Setter / Operator) to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Bedford. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term role within a busy, precision engineering environment.

    Working within a dedicated machine cell, you will be responsible for the setting and operation of CNC lathes, producing high-quality components to tight tolerances.

    Key Responsibilities

    Set and operate CNC turning machines to manufacture precision components
    Select and install appropriate tooling, offsets, and fixtures
    Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
    Conduct in-process and final inspection using measuring equipment (e.g. micrometers, verniers, gauges)
    Identify and resolve machining issues to maintain production efficiency
    Work collaboratively with the production team to meet output targets and deadlines
    Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment

    Requirements

    Proven experience as a CNC Turner / CNC Lathe Setter Operator
    Strong background in setting and operating CNC turning machines
    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
    Experience using inspection and measurement tools
    Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials
    Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
    Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
