How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location:  Sale, Manchester  

    Employment type: Full Time, Permanent / Hybrid

    About the role…

    Analysing water and electrical network drawings, development layouts, bills of quantities and other project documentation to produce accurate cost estimates for multi-utility projects, with equal focus on water and electrical infrastructure for residential, commercial and industrial developments.

    Undertake desktop site surveys and liaise with customers to identify their water and electrical infrastructure and connection requirements and liaise with Water Authorities, DNOs and IDNOs to obtain connection offers, technical approvals and adoption requirements. Produce integrated multi-utility estimates ensuring that solutions meet customer requirements, regulatory standards and project budgets.

    ?As an Multi Utility Estimator you will

    Drive project business growth and profitability across both water and electrical infrastructure within the multi-utility and developer services sector and produce accurate and competitive electrical, water and combined multi-utility estimates which convert into orders and revenue while maximising profitability and ensure balanced commercial focus across both disciplines, maintaining equal attention to electrical (LV/HV) and water infrastructure opportunities.

    Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Water Authorities, DNOs and IDNOs to support successful project delivery and future opportunities and support the development of integrated multi-utility solutions, ensuring efficient coordination between electrical and water designs and estimates.

    Core Estimating & Design

    Analyse project documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for both water and electrical infrastructure.

    Produce preliminary designs for water mains, service connections and electrical networks (LV/HV).

    Develop coordinated multi-utility solutions integrating both disciplines.

    Water Responsibilities

    Liaise with Water Authorities for connection offers, approvals and adoptions.

    Produce water network designs in line with relevant standards and specifications.

    Submit water connection applications and manage the approval process.

    Electrical Responsibilities

    Liaise with DNOs and IDNOs to obtain electrical connection offers and approvals.

    Apply relevant standards such as ENA Engineering Recommendation G81.

    Support design and estimating of electrical infrastructure including substations, LV/HV networks and service connections.

    Commercial & Supplier Management

    Research, source and negotiate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors across both utilities.

    Produce competitive, commercially viable estimates across electrical, water and multi-utility schemes.

    Coordination & Delivery

    Attend design and coordination meetings with clients, developers and stakeholders.

    Produce clear scopes of work and quotation documentation.

    Manage project design changes and cost variations across both utilities.

    About you

    Qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field

    Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, such as ENA Engineering Recommendation G81

    Experience in electrical design, in a Infrastructure or ICP context

    Experience of using relevant design software, such as AutoCAD or MicroStation

    Must have 2yrs minimum quoting water, including domestic, I&C – mains and service

    Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders

    Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to overcome design challenges

    Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on time and within budget
