How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    NATS are currently seeking an experienced Test Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This pivotal role involves overseeing comprehensive testing and commissioning tasks across system requirements and design proposals. Some travel within the UK and overseas will be required, making this a dynamic and engaging opportunity.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Testing and commissioning of system requirements
    Testing and commissioning of system design proposals
    Testing and commissioning of system change requests
    Representing the company as a domain technical expert
    Providing testing support for services and systems in operational use
    Commissioning sites after successful testing activities have been approved
    Writing, reviewing, and maintaining project documentation
    Investigating and diagnosing problems and proposing solutions

    Job Requirements:

    Experience in engineer testing and commissioning, preferably within the Defence & Security sector
    FAT, IAT & SAT
    Ability to work unsupervised and manage delegated tasks effectively
    Good interpersonal communication skills and technical proficiency
    Proficient in the selection and use of test tools
    Experience in writing and reviewing test plans, scripts, and reports
    Capability to provide technical expertise and support for system deficiencies
    HNC qualification in an Engineering related discipline or demonstrable skills through relevant experience

    Desirable Skills and Experience:

    Relevant engineering experience in a business-critical or safety-critical sector
    Experience in real-time, safety-related environments and/or Air Traffic Management Systems (ATM)
    Understanding of the Manage Verification and Defect processes within the Manage Service Transition process
    Security clearance preferred

    Job Scope:

    Coordinate with technical and management teams to agree on timescales and work plans for testing activities
    Analyse requirements for optimal test solutions and produce accurate test specifications
    Provide technical expertise to operational units during project transitions
