How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A leading consultancy within the built environment sector is seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to deliver complex, high-risk projects across a diverse client portfolio.

    This opportunity suits a technically strong Senior Fire Engineer looking to take ownership of projects while influencing design, compliance, and safety outcomes at the highest level.

    The Senior Fire Engineer's Role

    The Senior Fire Engineer will lead fire engineering delivery across all RIBA stages, producing robust fire strategies and performance-based solutions. You will undertake detailed analysis including means of escape, smoke control design, façade risk assessments, and structural fire considerations.

    The Senior Fire Engineer will utilise fire modelling tools (CFD or zone modelling) to assess fire behaviour, supporting clear and justified engineering decisions. You will interpret UK legislation including Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991, and BS 7974, ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, particularly on higher-risk buildings.

    Acting as a key technical authority, the Senior Fire Engineer will engage with clients, design teams, and regulators, while mentoring junior engineers and reviewing technical outputs to maintain quality and consistency.

    The Senior Fire Engineer

    Successful candidates will demonstrate:

    Significant experience delivering complex fire engineering projects
    Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and standards
    Expertise in fire dynamics, smoke movement, and protection systems
    Experience with fire modelling software and analysis
    A degree in Fire Engineering or similar discipline
    Chartered status (or working towards) with a recognised body
    Excellent communication and report writing skills
