How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are a small but rapidly growing construction company looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to lead and develop our estimating function. This is a key senior role where the successful candidate will build and manage an estimating desk, with the opportunity to grow a team beneath them as the business expands.

    This role will suit a confident, commercially minded estimator who can work independently, take ownership of pricing merging workloads, and play a pivotal role in winning work and shaping our future pipeline.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

    Lead all estimating activities across the business

    *

    Pricing and managing:

    *

    Framework quotations

    *

    Small works quotations

    *

    Large-scale tenders and bids

    *

    Identify and source new opportunities through public and private tender portals

    *

    Prepare, manage and submit bids through public procurement platforms

    *

    Develop accurate and competitive costings across all construction trades

    *

    Build and maintain rate schedules and pricing databases

    *

    Take ownership of estimating programmes, deadlines, and submissions

    *

    Liaise directly with clients and potential clients to clarify scope, pricing, and feedback

    *

    Gather and analyse post-tender feedback to continually improve bid success

    *

    Support future growth by helping structure and mentor junior estimators

    Essential Experience & Skills

    *

    Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within the construction industry

    *

    Strong working knowledge of public tender portals and procurement processes

    *

    Extensive experience estimating construction works across multiple disciplines

    *

    Ability to confidently build and justify own rates

    *

    Excellent understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and programme durations

    *

    Advanced user of Excel

    *

    Experience with Bluebeam or similar take-off/estimating software

    *

    Confident navigating and interpreting schedules of rates

    *

    Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

    *

    Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage clients, consultants, and stakeholders
