How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job Title: Sub Agent – Roads and Networks,

    Location: Hinckley Point C, Somerset

    About Carmichael Recruitment:

Carmichael Recruitment is a specialist recruitment agency supporting the construction and infrastructure sectors. We are known for delivering top-tier professionals for high-profile projects and are proud to play a key role in shaping the future of the UK’s infrastructure.

    Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Sub Agent with experience in roads, networks, highways, and drainage for an exciting role at Hinckley Point C, one of the UK’s most significant and complex nuclear projects. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with a background in civil infrastructure to work on a cutting-edge, large-scale development.

As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations on site, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with engineering standards for highways, drainage, and other key infrastructure works. You will work closely with the site management team and ensure that construction activities run smoothly and efficiently.

    Key Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee the construction of roads, highways, and drainage systems on-site at Hinckley Point C.

Ensure that all work is completed to the highest quality standards and in line with the project specifications.

Provide technical support and advice to the site management team, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.

Monitor and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Supervise the day-to-day site operations and coordinate with surveyors, contractors, and other engineering teams.

Perform setting out, surveying, and ensuring accurate construction of roads, drainage systems, and other civil infrastructure.

Maintain detailed records, reports, and documentation of work progress and site activities.

Address any technical issues or challenges that arise during construction and propose solutions.

Liaise with the design team and ensure that designs are adhered to during the construction phase.

    Requirements:

Proven experience as a Sub Agent with a focus on roads, highways, drainage, and civil infrastructure projects.

Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and construction processes.

Experience in setting out and working with total stations and other surveying equipment.

Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and health & safety practices.

A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field (Degree/HNC/HND).

Previous experience working on major construction projects, preferably in a nuclear, power, or large-scale infrastructure environment.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

A valid CSCS card and relevant safety certifications (e.g., SMSTS or SSSTS).

    Desirable Skills:

Experience working at large-scale construction sites, ideally nuclear or power-related projects.

Experience in managing teams of between 12 - 15 people

Knowledge of 3D modelling and BIM (Building Information Modelling) would be advantageous.

Familiarity with project management software and tools.

    Full UK driving license.

If you are an experienced Sub Agent with expertise in roads, highways, drainage, and civil infrastructure, this is an exceptional opportunity to make your mark on a landmark project
