How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are seeking a highly motivated Factory Manager to join a well-established business within the FMCG industry to lead their Preston based facility. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering operational excellence and a strong commitment to employee development and engagement.

With a rapidly expanding global footprint, the business operates multiple high‑performing production facilities across three continents, supplying their products internationally.

    Description

    Reporting directly to the Group Operations Director, the Factory Manager will take full responsibility for site performance, strategic direction and leadership. This role will play a pivotal part in driving operational excellence, cost efficiency, team engagement and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

    Key Responsibilities

    Deliver consistent performance against site KPIs, customer requirements, and operational targets
    Drive a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring teams are empowered and performance‑focused
    Own and manage site budgets, identifying cost‑saving and efficiency opportunities
    Implement, refine and embed robust operational processes
    Lead and execute Capex projects and future site development plans
    Champion the Health, Safety & Environmental agenda, ensuring all legal, internal and external standards are met
    Provide inspirational leadership across Production, Engineering and Distribution, promoting collaboration, accountability and high performance

    Profile

    The successful Factory Manager will demonstrate:

    Proven leadership experience within FMCG manufacturing (food manufacturing experience advantageous)
    Strong background in continuous improvement, with the ability to identify and implement operational enhancements
    Sound financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and cost‑control initiatives
    Excellent knowledge of HACCP, BRC, HSE and food safety standards
    A results‑driven mindset, complemented by a hands‑on, visible leadership style
    Engineering or technical background (desirable)

    Job Offer

    Competitive salary: £60,000 - £65,000
