How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Head of Delivery – Engineering Projects – Stafford – Hybrid – £70-75k + 10% bonus + hybrid working + 30 days annual leave + BUPA

+++Leadership role managing Project Managers, driving delivery standards, customer-facing, key strategic hire+++

Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Head of Delivery to join a well-established engineering business delivering complex control and safety systems into highly regulated sectors such as nuclear, defence and energy.

The Head of Delivery will take ownership of a portfolio of projects and lead a team of Project Managers, ensuring projects are delivered to a consistently high standard in terms of quality, safety and commercial performance.

This is not a hands-on technical role, but the Head of Delivery will need to come from a similar engineering environment such as a systems integrator, OEM or electrical engineering business and be comfortable operating in a customer-facing capacity.

Key aspects of the Head of Delivery role include:

    * Leading, mentoring and developing a team of Project Managers, ensuring consistent delivery standards

    * Acting as the escalation point across multiple projects, holding teams accountable for delivery, quality and financial performance

    * Overseeing a portfolio of complex engineering projects across the full lifecycle from design through to commissioning

    * Driving improvements in project delivery processes, increasing efficiency and improving margins

    * Supporting resource planning and identifying capacity gaps across the project delivery function

    * Building strong relationships with key customers, acting as a trusted partner and senior point of contact

    * Supporting bid activity and helping shape delivery strategy on new projects

    * Ensuring governance, compliance and quality standards are consistently applied across all projects

    * The successful Head of Delivery is likely to have operated as a Programme Manager, Senior Project Manager or Engineering Manager within an engineering-led organisation and will have experience managing multiple projects and leading teams.

Key requirements for the Head of Delivery role:

    * Proven experience in a Head of Delivery, Programme Manager or senior leadership role within an engineering environment

    * Background in sectors such as nuclear, energy, oil & gas, process or other regulated industries

    * Experience managing Project Managers or leading multi-project delivery teams

    * Strong commercial awareness, including experience with NEC contracts and project financial control

    * Experience delivering projects across the full lifecycle

    * Strong customer-facing experience and ability to build long-term relationships

    * Solid understanding of project planning tools such as MS Project or Primavera

    * Strong focus on quality, governance and continuous improvement

    * Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline

    Security requirements:

    * Applicants must hold a sole British passport and must not hold dual nationality

    * Must be eligible to obtain security clearance

    * Must have lived in the UK for the last 5 years

This Head of Delivery role would suit someone looking to step into a senior, strategic leadership position where they can influence how projects are delivered and play a key role in developing a growing team
