How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

A well-established engineering and technology organisation is looking to appoint a Facilities Engineer to support the day-to-day operation of a modern, high-spec facility in Edinburgh.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving, takes pride in keeping things running smoothly, and can adapt across a variety of building services and maintenance tasks.

You’ll play a key part in maintaining the site’s infrastructure, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance, and ensuring facilities operate safely and efficiently.

The position offers a mix of practical, coordination, and improvement-focused work — ideal for someone who enjoys variety and being close to the action.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across site services and equipment

    * Troubleshoot faults and resolve issues to minimise disruption

    * Support and oversee external contractors on-site

    * Conduct routine inspections of building systems and services

    * Assist with small projects, upgrades, and general site improvements

    * Maintain records of maintenance activities and work orders

    * Support compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

    * Contribute to continuous improvement and general site upkeep

    About You

This role is open to a range of backgrounds. You might come from facilities, maintenance engineering, building services, or a technical trade.

We’re particularly keen to hear from individuals with:

    * Experience working with electrical and/or mechanical systems

    * A practical, hands-on approach to fault finding and problem solving

    * The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

    * Strong communication skills and a team-focused mindset

Candidates from ex-military backgrounds (e.g. Navy, RAF, Army technical roles) are strongly encouraged to apply, especially those with experience in maintenance, engineering, or technical operations.

    What’s on Offer

You’ll be joining a stable and well-invested environment where facilities are taken seriously. The role offers variety, autonomy, and the chance to be part of a supportive team that values practical thinking and reliability
