How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Commissioning Engineer – East Lancashire – Permanent – £40-45k basic – Forecasted £70-80k total when overtime/uplifts factored in - 4 day working week

    Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Commissioning Engineer to join an East Lancashire based machine builder. The successful Commissioning Engineer will focus on electrical controls, fault finding and getting machines up and running both in-house and on customer sites.
    Key aspects of the Commissioning Engineer role include;
    * Commissioning Engineer will carry out electrical fault finding, working through test procedures and getting machines operational
    * Set up drives and motors, ensuring systems are running correctly and safely
    * Modify and interrogate PLC code, typically Siemens based systems
    * Support FAT and SAT activities and ensure machines meet performance criteria
    * Commissioning Engineer will work on a wide range of bespoke machinery used across multiple sectors
    * Liaise with customers on site and provide technical support when required
    Commissioning Engineer travel estimate;
    * Typically, 1–2 larger overseas jobs per year lasting 4–6 weeks
    * Smaller trips tend to be 7–10 days
    * Travel mainly to the USA and mainland Europe
    This Commissioning Engineer position will suit someone with a strong electrical background who enjoys fault finding and problem solving. Engineers from a maintenance background who are used to diagnosing issues and getting equipment running will be well suited.
    Key skills and experience for the Commissioning Engineer role;
    * Strong electrical controls and fault finding capability
    * Experience with drives, motors and machine setup
    * Ability to follow and execute test procedures
    * PLC experience, ideally Siemens TIA Portal
    * Comfortable working on bespoke or special purpose machinery
    Additional benefits;
    * 4 day working week, Monday to Thursday, 9.5 hours per day (when in the UK)
    * Estimate about 25-30% of role will be abroad
    * Overtime paid

    * Daily allowance when working away
    * Total earnings realistically estimated to be around £70-80k
