TeacherActive work in partnership with the local authority to support young people who are currently out of education for wide variety of reasons or needs.
I am currently recruiting for a tutor to support a young person of primary age, Year 4, who is working below his expected levels, mainly KS1.
He presents with PDA, has a diagnosis of ADHD and ASD & Hypermobility.
This young person enjoys reading, can communicate well but will often revert to physical gestures or noises to alert a safe adult as to their needs and wants. He grips his pen with a palm grip and has some anxiety around this and learning in general.
He will respond to a tutor who is male, who is experienced and professional with a calm and patient demeanour yet can be firm when needed.
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate tutor to support this young person and the family in the Tunbridge Wells area. You will need to drive due to the semi-rural location of the family home.
You will have experience in tutoring 1:1, in particular within the SEND needs described above and having experience of supporting a young person with an EHCP, ongoing health conditions, and developing needs.
The Tuition Role:
One-to-one tuition in the young person’s home
Support a learner through personalised learning plans
Deliver specific tuition and beyond where applicable
Build trust and confidence in a safe, supportive learning environment
Ideal Candidate for this Tutor position:
Experienced in working with SEND inc. ADHD, PDA and ASK & dis-engaged/anxious learners
Confident delivering lessons independently and adapting to varied needs
Patient, empathetic, caring and resilient
Able to travel locally for face-to-face tuition in the family home
