How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role

    As a Design Technology Technician, you will play an essential part in the smooth and safe running of the department. Every day will bring variety, from preparing materials and setting up machinery to supporting students during practical sessions.

    * Stevenage Location

    * April 2016 Start

    * Initially 6 weeks duration

    * Full Time

    * Pay range £100 - £120 per day

    * Paid PAYE Not via expensive umbrella companies

    Your key responsibilities will include:

    * Preparing tools, equipment and materials for DT lessons

    * Supporting teachers and students during practical activities

    * Maintaining workshops, tools, machines and preparation areas

    * Ensuring all Health & Safety procedures are followed at all times

    * Monitoring, auditing and replenishing stock and consumables

    * Keeping storage areas organised and equipment in good working order

    This is a role where your practical knowledge and attention to detail will make a real difference to teaching and learning.

    About You

    We’re looking for someone who is:

    * Confident using a range of tools, equipment or workshop machinery

    * Organised, reliable and able to manage their own workload

    * A good communicator who can work well with staff and students

    * Safety‑conscious with a proactive approach to problem‑solving

    * Willing to learn and develop new skills

    Previous experience in a school or workshop environment is beneficial, but not essential — full training can be provided.
