How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Do you want to be a valued part of the critical infrastructure that serves communities across Europe and beyond? Are you looking for a position in which you can set direction and help shape our company? If so, then you could be the newest addition to our team as a Workshop Manager.

Be part of the movement - and play your part.

    About the role

As Workshop Manager, you’ll oversee the day to day running of our trailer maintenance workshop, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations. You’ll manage a skilled team, deliver strong workshop performance, and work closely with internal stakeholders to meet demand and maintain high service standards.

    You will be responsible for:

Managing workshop performance to achieve targets in asset availability, reliability, productivity, stock control and cost efficiency

Championing QHSE standards through up‑to‑date risk assessments, method statements and strong safety leadership

Overseeing workshop P&L, supporting budget planning and CAPEX specification

Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to grow workshop volume

Monitoring equipment reliability and implementing improvement plans based on performance analysis and root‑cause investigations

Acting as key point of contact for customers and ensuring high quality standards are consistently delivered

Leading your team through coaching, performance reviews, development planning and clear communication

    About you

You’ll bring strong people management experience with the ability to lead teams through change, maintain high standards and drive operational performance. You’ll be an excellent communicator who can build strong relationships with internal and external partners, influence others, and support a collaborative working culture. You’ll be confident using IT systems and comfortable managing budgets and performance targets.

A Level 3 qualification in Leadership & Management or equivalent experience is desirable, and an NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair would be an advantage, though not essential.

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re a motivated leader with a solution focused mindset, strong organisational skills, and the ability to keep the workshop operating safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity. Contrasting opinions, varied skills and strong characters bring out the best in us all. And we cannot wait for you to join.

    Working at DFDS

Join the movement and grow with us.

Now about what we can give you. You’ll be able to access some fantastic benefits such as:

    Life assurance cover

    Contributory company pension scheme

Huge range of retail discounts from high street and online retailers

Cashback on health care including dental, optical, physiotherapy, prescriptions, specialist consultations and much more.

Access to myStrength, our Wellbeing platform, which has plenty of content to support and improve your mental wellness needs.
