How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Deputy Children’s Home Manager
    Location: Bromyard
    Salary: £34,000 – £44,000 per year (depending on experience)
    Hours: 40 hours per week – 2 shifts on / 4 shifts off
    Sleep-ins required

    Claire at Amber Mace is recruiting on behalf of a well-established care provider for an experienced Deputy Children’s Home Manager to support the leadership of a specialist residential children’s home in Bromyard.

    This home supports children and young people with challenging behaviours and harmful sexualised behaviours, so the successful candidate will need strong safeguarding knowledge, resilience, and experience working within therapeutic and trauma-informed environments.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker or Team Leader looking to progress into a Deputy Manager role, or an existing Deputy seeking their next challenge.

    Key Responsibilities

    Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the children’s home.

    Provide leadership and guidance to the staff team, ensuring high standards of care and safeguarding.

    Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for children and young people.

    Support young people presenting with challenging behaviours and harmful sexualised behaviours.

    Assist in implementing care plans, behaviour management strategies, and risk assessments.

    Ensure accurate and up-to-date record keeping and documentation in line with regulatory standards.

    Lead shifts, support staff development, and contribute to staff supervision and training.

    Work collaboratively with social workers, therapists, families, and external professionals to support positive outcomes for young people.

    Participate in the on-call rota and sleep-ins as required.

    Requirements

    Experience working within a children’s residential care setting.

    Experience supporting children with challenging behaviours and complex needs.

    Knowledge or experience of working with harmful sexualised behaviours is desirable.

    Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential).

    Level 5 Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).

    Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

    Ability to remain calm and confident in high-pressure situations.

    Full UK driving licence preferred.
