How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Head of Engineering (Machine Design and Manufacturing)

    Taunton 

    Salary £80,000 + Increasing Holidays (Up to 25 Days) + Bank Holidays + Free Parking + Sick Pay + Career Development Opportunities

    37.5 Hours per Week - Monday to Thursday 08:30 to 17:00, Friday 08:30 to 14:00 

    Head of Engineering required for a leading engineering company who are going through an exciting period of growth and succession planning. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an industry leader who hold a global reputation for the quality of their work.

    This role also offers scope to develop into a director level role in the future so is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to play an integral role and make a long-term impact in a reputable company. 

    This role would suit an experienced engineer with experience in a senior leadership role. You will hold an engineering degree (or equivalent) and will need experience manufacturing machinery or capital equipment. You will have a strong understanding of design processes and experience delivering projects to customers. 

    The Head of Engineering will be responsible for overseeing and leading the company’s multi skilled engineering team, both day to day and its long-term direction. You will ensure the team is motivated, drive innovation in technologies and ensure company products not only meet but exceed customer expectations.

    The Head of Engineering Role: 

    · Support the Design Manager deliver work on time, focusing on reducing costs, safety and process improvements
    · Motivating and supervising the engineering team
    · Support after-sales by providing technical support to customers and service engineers
    · Ensure compliance with legislation
    · Ensure technical documentation is completed on time, including risk assessments and FMEA

    The Head of Engineering Candidate: 

    · Experienced engineer – degree qualified (or equivalent)
    · Experience in a senior leadership role
    · Knowledge of PLCs, drives and controls
    · Understanding of design process of machinery or capital equipment
    · Experience with machine commissioning
