How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Controls Engineer – Greater Manchester - Rockwell PLCs - FactoryTalk / Studio 5000 – £50-62k + Hybrid Working + Limited Site Work

Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Controls Engineer with Rockwell / Allen Bradley PLC experience to join a well-established and growing engineering business located in Greater Manchester. The role is predominantly office-based with very limited site work and would suit a Controls Engineer who enjoys structured, collaborative development rather than regular site work.

Key aspects of the Controls Engineer role include –

    * Controls Engineer will work on Rockwell PLCs using Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View

    * Controls Engineer will typically work with ladder logic, with some structured text where required

    * Controls Engineer will often modify code, interrogate existing programs, tweak and enhance systems rather than always starting from scratch

    * Very limited site work, most of the work is done in-house in a controlled environment

    * Strong emphasis on collaborative working, shared standards, consistent code structure and reusable libraries across the team

    * Controls Engineer will contribute to developing libraries and frameworks that all engineers can use effectively

    * Fast-paced environment with multiple projects running in parallel

    * Involvement across full project lifecycle including design, development, testing and FAT

    * Process control environments such as water treatment, chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, nuclear or oil and gas

    * Any background where systems need to be robust, reliable and compliant

    * Hybrid and flexible working

    * Strong focus on training and continuous development

    * Regular team building events, team lunches and social culture

    * Supportive, collaborative engineering team with clear progression routes

This is a strong opportunity for a Controls Engineer who wants to develop high-quality, structured PLC software in a team environment without the constant requirement to be on site.

The location is easily accessible from Manchester, Bury, Oldham, Heywood, Bolton, Blackburn, Preston, Chorley, Rochdale and Warrington.
