How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the role

We are seeking a Housing Officer to deliver high‑quality tenancy management services to residents across JRHT properties. You will play a key role in putting residents and communities at the heart of everything we do, supporting tenancy sustainment, promoting positive neighbourhoods, and ensuring compliance with housing legislation and regulatory requirements.

You will manage tenancy services including income management, anti-social behaviour, tenancy sustainment, enforcement, mutual exchanges, and transfers. The role includes carrying out regular property inspections and patch walkabouts, managing void properties, maintaining communal areas and addressing estate issues such as fly‑tipping, vandalism and untidy gardens.

As the main point of contact for residents within your patch, you will provide advice, guidance and support on tenancy‑related matters. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners, including local authorities and specialist support agencies, to manage complex cases and help residents maintain successful tenancies. Where required, you will prepare cases and attend court in relation to rent recovery or eviction proceedings. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date records on the CX system, ensuring that household information and warning alerts are relevant and appropriately reviewed.

    About you

We are looking for a confident and customer‑focused professional with excellent communication, active listening and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with residents and resolve complex issues. You will have experience working face to face with residents, approaching every interaction with professionalism, empathy and a solution‑focused mindset. A strong understanding of social housing legislation, tenancy agreements and regulatory requirements is essential, along with practical experience in tenancy management, sustainment and enforcement, including court processes.

The role requires the ability to manage a portfolio of properties, respond effectively to resident enquiries and make sound decisions in sometimes challenging or pressured situations. You will be highly organised, able to manage a varied workload, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines while maintaining accurate records and producing clear, informative written communications. Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail and confidence in interpreting data and reporting tools to identify gaps and ensure compliance are key. You must be able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. A CIH Level 2 or 3 qualification, or a willingness to work towards one, is required, along with a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

    Our core priority

JRHT strives to be a housing association that is sustainable and engaging, providing high quality and continuously improving services and decent affordable homes in well managed communities prioritising those in greatest need.

    How to apply

To apply, please complete the online application.

Closing date for applications is 8th April 2026.

Interviews will take place on 16th April 2026.

Please note that we will be shortlisting and interviewing on an on-going basis and reserve the right to bring the closing date forward should enough quality applications be received.

    Additional Information

We’re at our best when we’re continually building on trust, showing we care and making a difference – and we hope others will do the same. We are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming workplace, where all colleagues can be themselves.

JRHT operates a hybrid way of working and some home working is available, although there is an expectation that the post holder will be working between the patch and office.

Our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

At JRHT we believe in giving everyone an equal chance to succeed. Applications are welcome from all regardless of age, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, race, sex, sexual orientation, trans status or social economic background. We are a Disability Confident Employer. This means that we are committed to the recruitment, progression and retention of disabled individuals. We offer interviews to disabled candidates who meet the minimum criteria for the job. If you have a disability, please tell us if you would like to be considered for an interview under the Disability Confident Scheme
