Electrical Engineer Required – Port Operations
Join one of the UK’s busiest container and general cargo ports. As an Engineering Technician / Electrical Engineer, you will report to the Engineering Supervisor and provide hands-on engineering support across operational port equipment during shift operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and repair Quay Cranes (QCs), Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGs), and port equipment
* Ensure maximum equipment safety, availability, and reliability
* Complete maintenance and repairs to high engineering standards
* Support safe and effective deployment of technicians and contractors
* Provide technical supervision and on-site engineering support
Electrical Engineer Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in electrical, mechanical, or vehicle engineering
* Experience diagnosing faults in RTGs, TUGs, or crane systems
* Working knowledge of PLCs and variable speed drives
* Competency in electrical control fault finding
* Operational plant licences (MEWPs desirable)
* Full UK Driving Licence
* Comfortable working at height
Shift Pattern
* 12-hour shifts
* 4 on / 4 off → 5 on / 5 off rotation
* Operating hours between 06:00 – 22:00
* Potential earlier finishes on weekends
