How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join the Engineering & Manufacturing department within the industrial/manufacturing industry. This position, based in Wigan, requires a professional who can ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of electrical systems.

    Description

    As the electrical maintenance engineer you will be tasked with the following;

    Key Responsibilities -

    Breakdown Response & Repairs

    Act as first-response support for Electrical breakdowns across all production lines.

    Diagnose faults quickly and carry out repairs to minimize downtime and production disruption.

    Escalate complex breakdowns appropriately while ensuring initial containment actions are taken.

    Maintenance & Machine Reliability

    Support planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities as required.

    Monitor machine condition and report recurring issues or potential failure risks.

    Assist in setting up machines following maintenance to ensure safe and efficient restart.

    Mechanical Duties

    Work on machinery including corrugators, printers, slotters, die cutters, folder gluers, conveyors and associated handling systems.

    Undertake Electrical repairs, adjustments, alignment, Calibrations, installations.

    Ensure all work is carried out in line with site safety procedures and engineering standards.

    Operational Support

    Work collaboratively with production teams to ensure smooth handover between shifts.

    Log breakdowns, actions taken and parts used in the CMMS or shift log.

    Contribute to continuous improvement by highlighting root causes and recommending long-term fixes.

    Health, Safety & Compliance

    Ensure all tasks are carried out in compliance with site health and safety policies, permit-to-work procedures and isolation standards.

    Identify and report any unsafe conditions or equipment issues.

    Maintain high standards of housekeeping within engineering and production areas.

    Profile

    A successful Electrical Maintenance Engineer should have:

    Electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or FMCG Environment.
    Strong fault-finding and breakdown repair skills.
    Ability to work independently across rotating shifts.
    Good understanding of machine safety, isolations, and maintenance best practice.
    Experience within corrugated board, packaging, print or conversion machinery.
    Basic understanding of electrical safety (e.g., isolation awareness).
    CMMS / maintenance logging experience.
    FLT / MEWP / Permit-to-Work awareness (training can be provided).
    NVQ level 3 or equivalent.Job Offer
