How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Astute's Power Team are currently recruiting for a C&I Commissioning Engineer to join the EPC Contractor on a new build Waste to Energy facility based inChester, Cheshire.

    The C&I Commissioning Engineer comes with a day rate from £500.00 to £525.00 per day outside of IR35.

    Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:

    Responsibile for all Control & Instrumentation (C&I) commissioning activities from late pre-commissioning through cold and hot commissioning phases on a large-scale Energy-from-Waste facility.
    Review and validate loop checks, point-to-point testing, instrument calibration, and I/O verification prior to system energisation.
    Coordinate commissioning of DCS, PLC, SCADA, and field instrumentation systems across key plant areas including boiler island, turbine generator, flue gas treatment (FGT), and balance of plant with the Lead C&I Commissioning Engineer.
    Develop and execute detailed commissioning procedures, method statements, and test documentation aligned with OEM and EPC requirements.
    Lead functional testing during cold commissioning, ensuring correct interlocks, alarms, permissives, and cause & effect matrices are fully validated.
    Hot commissioning activities including first fire, steam blows, turbine rolling, and grid synchronisation from a controls and instrumentation perspective.
    Troubleshoot control system faults, signal issues, communication errors, and instrumentation performance during live plant conditions.
    Interface closely with mechanical, electrical, and process commissioning teams to ensure integrated system performance and safe energisation sequences.
    Ensure compliance with safety standards, permit-to-work systems, and commissioning risk assessments during energised testing phases.
    Support performance testing, emissions monitoring validation, and final plant handover documentation to operations.
    ???????We are ideally looking for someone with waste to energy experience, however, general power generation process plant experience such as OCGT, CCGT, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical is a desirable.
