How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Astute's Power team is partnering with leading with a Power Generation company to recruit an Operations Technician for its Energy from Waste site in Milton Keynes.

    The Operations Technician role comes with a starting salary of up to £52,000 + benefits package.

    Responsibilities and duties of the Operations Technician role

    Reporting to the Shift Team Leader you will:

    Ensure compliance with Environmental Permit requirements and report any incidents or breaches.
    Operate the plant safely and efficiently during normal operations, start-up, shutdown, and emergencies.
    Follow all Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental systems and relevant legislation.
    Participate in site HSE initiatives and contribute to safety forums.
    Collaborate with the Maintenance Team to maintain optimal plant performance.
    Mentor and train new personnel on plant operations and compliance standards.
    Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including shift handovers and maintenance records.
    Support continuous safe and efficient plant operation through proactive monitoring and communication.

    Professional qualifications

    We are looking for someone with the following:

    · NVQ Level 3 or National Diploma in a relevant discipline (essential).

    · WAMITAB Level 4 in Managing Thermal Treatment Facilities (desirable).

    · Strong technical knowledge of combustion and boiler processes.

    · Proven experience operating a heavy industrial plant, ideally a power station

    · Ability to meet KPI targets and demonstrate relevant technical competency.

    · Proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement.

    · Effective communicator with the ability to coach and share knowledge.
