How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Mechanical Estimator 

    Location: Dartford | Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
    Salary: £30,000 – £60,000 (DOE)

    A highly respected M&E Design & Build company based in Dartford is seeking a Mechanical Estimator at Junior or Intermediate level to join their growing team.

    About the Company With over 40 years of experience and a team of around 40 staff, the company provides end-to-end M&E services including design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance. Their diverse client portfolio includes police stations, courts, office fit-outs, factories, and more.

    The Role You will be office-based in Dartford, working alongside two other Mechanical Estimators and two Electrical Estimators. You will report to the Estimating Manager and be responsible for supporting the preparation of accurate and competitive tenders for projects ranging from £10,000 to £5,000,000.

    Key Responsibilities

    Review and analyse tender documents, including raising RFIs with clients
    Communicate with the supply chain and manage enquiries
    Perform quantity take-offs in line with standard estimating conventions
    Vet incoming tenders/offers from suppliers to ensure the most viable options are included
    Prepare tenders for internal adjudication
    Attend adjudication meetings to present costing approaches, project durations, and risks
    Ensure timely submission of tenders
    Support the handover of awarded projects to the operations team
    Experience & Qualifications

    Preferably qualified by apprenticeship or to C&G/ONC level
    Proven experience in a similar role within an M&E contractor or main contractor M&E division
    Strong ability to estimate costs and project timelines accurately to meet deadlines
