How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: Brighton (4-5 days per week onsite)
    Duration: 6 month contract
    Inside IR35

    Role details:
    Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security and Aerospace sectors, is currently seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to join their team in Brighton. You will be required to work onsite 4 days per week, with an initial period of 5 days per week for the first 4 weeks.

    Core Responsibilities:

    Support the development and management of system requirements, ensuring traceability from customer needs through to verification.
    Support the development of system safety artefacts in accordance with aerospace and defence standards.
    Assist in defining system architecture and interfaces across mechanical, electrical, and software elements.
    Participate in design reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, and test readiness reviews.
    Support the development of system safety artefacts in accordance with aerospace and defence standards.
    Assist in performing hazard identification and analysis activities.
    Contribute to safety assessments such as Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
    Support the development and maintenance of Hazard Logs.
    Ensure safety requirements are captured, allocated, and verified within the system design.
    Managing the Quarterly Airworthiness Review Board.

    Skills and Experience:

    Experience working within complex engineering systems (aerospace, defence, or high-integrity industries).
    Understanding of systems engineering principles and lifecycle management.
    Experience managing technical documentation and requirements.
    Ability to work within multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
    Experience with safety standards such as ARP4754, ARP4761, MIL-STD-882, and Def Stan 00-056.
    Experience with requirements management.
    Experience contributing to hazard analyses (FMEA, FTA, FHA).
    Understanding of reliability analyses.
    Knowledge of Reliasoft software tools (desirable)
    Aerospace or defence programme experience.
