How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Business Development Manager – Surgical Products
    Location: Bristol and surrounding areas (South West)
    Salary: £55,000 base + commission + benefits

    About the Role

    We are seeking a driven and commercially focused Business Development Manager to lead growth across a specialist portfolio of surgical products within the South West region. This is a field-based role focused on building strong relationships with healthcare providers, identifying new business opportunities, and expanding market presence across NHS and private healthcare settings.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve and exceed revenue targets

    * Identify and secure new business opportunities across hospitals, clinics, and procurement groups

    * Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including surgeons, theatre staff, procurement teams, and clinical decision-makers

    * Promote a range of high-quality surgical products, delivering product demonstrations and training where required

    * Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to contract negotiation and closure

    * Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to inform business strategy

    * Attend industry events, exhibitions, and conferences to enhance brand presence

    * Maintain accurate records of sales activity and pipeline using CRM systems

    Requirements

    * Proven experience in a business development or sales role within medical devices, ideally surgical products

    * Strong understanding of NHS procurement processes and healthcare sales environments

    * Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence key decision-makers

    * Highly motivated with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets

    * Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

    * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the South West region

    Desirable

    * Clinical or technical knowledge of surgical environments

    * Existing network within NHS trusts or private healthcare providers in the region

    * Experience managing tender processes
