    Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)
    Location: Barnet, London, UK
    Salary: £90–£100 per day
    Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary (Term Time Only)
    Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
    Start Date: 13 April 2025
    Key Stage: KS2 (Primary)
    Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training such a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

    About the Role

    We are seeking a dedicated and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support within a Year 5 class. You will be working closely with three pupils with varying needs, including ASD, ADHD, and emotional/trauma-related needs.

    This is a highly rewarding role where you will play a key part in supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally. The pupils are engaging and enthusiastic—particularly enjoying football—and benefit from a structured, consistent, and supportive approach.

    You will work alongside an experienced class teacher and a supportive wider team to ensure each child can access learning and reach their full potential.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for three Year 5 pupils with SEN

    • Support a pupil with ASD who requires academic support due to gaps in learning

    • Assist a pupil with ADHD, including implementing structured behaviour strategies, movement breaks, and regular refocusing

    • Provide emotional and pastoral support for a pupil with trauma-related needs

    • Establish clear boundaries using a firm but fair approach

    • Support learning in the classroom and during unstructured times such as break and lunch

    • Work closely with the class teacher to implement tailored support strategies

    • Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

    Role Requirements:

    • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly ASD, ADHD, and SEMH needs

    • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to set clear boundaries

    • A calm, patient, and resilient approach

    • The ability to build positive relationships and engage pupils effectively

    • Confidence in supporting both academic learning and emotional wellbeing

    • A proactive and team-oriented mindset
