    Junior R&D Technician Salary and Benefits

    * Important – candidates must have ‘Permanent UK Right to Work’

    * Salary up to £37,500

    * 36.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday

    * Company bonus

    Junior R&D Technician Role Function

    A self-motivated and eager to learn Junior R&D Technician is required to join an established team.

    In this role, you’ll help evaluate materials, improve product performance, and contribute to ongoing innovation across the business.

    You will gain a clear understanding of how ideas evolve into practical solutions that support wider business objectives. The role involves working to defined project budgets and timelines, with close collaboration across teams.

    Junior R&D Technician Candidate Requirements

    * Educated to postgraduate level in a science-based discipline, with experience in laboratory, manufacturing, or technical environments (work, placement, or academic).

    * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to identifying root causes and evaluating solutions.

    * Able to interpret test data, identify anomalies, and draw clear, meaningful conclusions.

    * Well-organised, able to manage tasks to deadlines, budgets, and changing project priorities with attention to detail.

    * Proficient in standard IT tools for data handling, reporting, research, communication, and presentations.

    * Effective communicator and team player, comfortable working across R&D, production, and quality functions in both lab and practical settings.

    * Proactive, self-motivated, and curious, with a willingness to learn, take initiative, and drive continuous improvement.

    Junior R&D Technician Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

    * Good understanding of safe laboratory practices, including safe working methods and accurate record-keeping.

    * Support the Technologists across all aspects of product development.

    * Knowledge of raw material behaviour and response to different processing conditions.

    * Understanding of production processes to support collaboration, problem solving, and teamwork.

    * Ability to contribute to R&D projects, meeting deadlines and keeping stakeholders informed.

    * Proactive in using available resources to investigate, recommend, and develop innovative solutions.
