How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Carmichael UK is working with a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering major infrastructure works on the HS2 project. We are currently seeking an experienced Site Engineer with highways and drainage experience to join the project team supporting works in Northamptonshire.

    This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to one of the UK’s largest infrastructure programmes, supporting the delivery of key highways and drainage packages on a nationally significant project.

    The Role

    As Site Engineer, you will support the delivery of highways and drainage works across the project. You will be responsible for setting out, quality assurance, and ensuring works are delivered in line with project specifications, programme requirements, and safety standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Setting out and overseeing highways and drainage works on site

    Monitoring construction activities and ensuring works are delivered to specification

    Carrying out as-built surveys and maintaining accurate engineering records

    Preparing and updating Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and supporting quality processes

    Producing site diaries and engineering documentation

    Coordinating site activities with subcontractors and supervisors

    Ensuring works are delivered safely and in accordance with project standards

    Requirements

    Proven experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure projects

    Strong experience delivering highways and drainage works

    Experience working on major infrastructure or large civil engineering projects

    HNC, HND, or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline

    Good understanding of engineering documentation including ITPs, surveys, and quality records

    Strong communication and organisational skills
