How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A growing, multi-office engineering consultancy is seeking to appoint a Graduate Fire Engineer to join their fire engineering team.

    This opportunity is well suited to a motivated Graduate Fire Engineer looking to begin their career within an established consultancy delivering high-quality fire strategies, particularly on high-rise developments.

    Working closely with experienced professionals, the Graduate Fire Engineer will gain hands-on experience supporting fire engineering solutions across a diverse range of sectors including residential, commercial, and large-scale projects.

    The Graduate Fire Engineer's Role
    * Assisting in the preparation of fire engineering strategies across a variety of projects
    * Supporting fire safety design from early concept through to construction stages
    * Contributing to fire engineering calculations and technical reporting
    * Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including architects and engineers
    * Attending meetings and supporting project delivery across multiple offices
    * Developing an understanding of UK fire regulations and their practical application

    The Graduate Fire Engineer
    * Degree or Master's in Fire Engineering or a related engineering discipline
    * Keen interest in fire safety and the built environment
    * Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented consultancy environment
    * Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
    * Good written and verbal communication skills
    * Enthusiastic approach to learning and professional development
