How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Civil Engineer - Residential Infrastructure
    Leeds or Wakefield

    An established and growing Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy is looking to appoint a Civil Engineer to join its busy civils team, working on a strong pipeline of residential-led projects. The business has a practical, down-to-earth approach to design and values engineers who are comfortable taking responsibility and getting on with the job without needing constant direction.

    This role is well suited to a Civil Engineer with around 2-4 years' consultancy experience who already has a good grounding in residential infrastructure. The successful candidate will be involved in a broad range of civils work from early feasibility through to detailed design and delivery. Typical projects include feasibility studies, flood risk assessments, drainage assessments and pre-planning support, progressing through to Section 38, Section 104 and Section 278 design. There is a strong focus on SuDS, private drainage, external works and earthworks design, so experience across these areas is essential.

    Day to day, you will be expected to use PDS/Flow confidently and apply it to real-world residential schemes. You will be trusted to produce technically sound designs, coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, and manage their own workload with minimal hand-holding. This is very much a role for someone who understands the demands of residential infrastructure and is comfortable taking ownership of their outputs.

    The Consultancy offers a supportive but non-corporate environment, where engineers are encouraged to develop their technical skills and progress naturally as their experience grows.
