How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Our client, a leader in the energy sector, is currently seeking a Principal Process Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This exciting opportunity focuses on the development of innovative, low-carbon process designs within the energy transition space. As part of a large multidisciplinary engineering group, you will oversee the design and delivery of process plants for various energy projects, including carbon capture schemes, hydrogen generation, gas networks, energy from waste plants, and industrial facilities. Location flexibility is offered across a UK office network.

    Key Responsibilities:

Leading the Process Engineering team to deliver technically excellent solutions across a broad portfolio of projects.
Managing projects at various stages of maturity, including feasibility studies, concept designs, FEED studies, value engineering, and detailed design.
Preparing process models, calculations, datasheets, heat and mass balances, process flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation drawings, and process philosophies.
Developing and maintaining internal tools and calculations.
Providing visible technical and team leadership and governance.
Developing designs that distinguish our client from competitors.
Promoting and leading innovation within the team on engineering principles for first-of-a-kind projects.
Collaborating with other groups to maximize cross-selling opportunities and support business leadership in bid preparation.
Identifying skills gaps and recruiting technical staff as needed.
Maintaining and developing processes to ensure efficient design delivery while supporting the integration of best practices such as BMS and SHEQ.
Effectively interfacing with GCC and promoting its use within the region.

    Job Requirements:

Degree in a relevant Engineering subject (Chemical Engineering preferred).
Chartered Chemical Engineer and Member of a relevant Engineering Institute.
Significant experience in process design and the ability to lead the development of process deliverables.
Knowledge of the design and construction of power and energy projects, ideally including low or zero carbon technologies and gasification.
Proven understanding of the design process, including working knowledge of brief/scope documents and design concepts.
Experience in producing and reviewing calculations.
Experience with process design software packages such as Thermoflow, Aspen Hysys, UniSim, etc.
Experience working with clients and contractors to achieve technical solutions.
If you are a seasoned Principal Process Engineer with a passion for low-carbon technologies and an innovative approach to complex problems, we would love to hear from you. Apply now to join our client's dynamic team and contribute to a greener, safer tomorrow
