How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Lecturer in Criminology (0.6 FTE) and Law – A Level
    Location: North Yorkshire
    Salary: £17,739 – £26,137 per annum (pro rata)
    Full-Time Equivalent: £29,565 – £43,562 per annum
    Contract: Permanent (0.6 FTE)
    Holiday: 45 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata)
    Pension: Teachers’ Pension Scheme
    We are working with a high-performing, student-focused college in North Yorkshire, recognised for its supportive culture and strong academic delivery, to recruit a Lecturer in Criminology and Law.
    This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving Social Sciences department, delivering predominantly A Level Criminology, alongside some Law teaching. Criminology is the primary focus of the role, making it ideal for candidates with a strong background and passion in this subject area.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Deliver high-quality A Level Criminology and Law lessons, with a focus on Criminology
    Plan, prepare, and assess student work to support progress and achievement
    Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment
    Support students in reaching their academic and career goals
    Contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives
    Who We’re Looking For:
    Ideally you will have:

    Degree in Criminology, Law, or a closely related subject
    Level 5 Teaching Qualification (or equivalent)
    Experience teaching A Level Criminology and/or Law
    Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Social Sciences
    We will also consider:

    Qualified secondary school teachers (e.g. in Law, Sociology, or related subjects)
    Experience teaching at GCSE level, with an interest in moving into A Level teaching
    Willingness to develop subject expertise in Criminology
