How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Freelance Project Manager - Structures / Highways

    Location: Paddington office + travel to Croydon & Lewisham sites
    Rate: Competitive day rate (Paid 9 hours per day, 1‑hour unpaid lunch)

    Matchtech are recruiting for an experienced Freelance Project Manager to support major highways and structural projects in London, working with one of the UK's most respected civil engineering and infrastructure delivery organisations.

    This role will be office‑based in Paddington, Monday-Friday, with regular travel to the Croydon Flyover and Lewisham Highways projects.

    We are seeking a Project Manager capable of running multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining high standards across programme, safety, quality and commercial performance.

    The Role

    You will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of structural and highways packages across two London projects. Working closely with Contracts Managers, Designers, Commercial teams and Site Personnel, you will ensure each scheme is set up correctly, delivered safely and completed on time and within budget.

    Key Responsibilities

    Manage multiple civils/highways projects simultaneously.
    Lead delivery on the Croydon Flyover and Lewisham Highways schemes.
    Plan programmes, resources, procurement and logistics.
    Support pre‑construction activities including buildability, tender input and handover.
    Coordinate design reviews and ensure buildability of structural/highways works.
    Track progress, manage critical paths and oversee project delivery milestones.
    Proactively identify risks, scope changes and opportunities for efficiencies.
    Produce and manage Project Resource Budgets and Project Resource Plans.
    Support commercial reporting including monthly valuations and cost/value reconciliation.
    Lead site safety: RAMS, CDM compliance, temporary works, permits, lift plans etc.
    Manage subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with SHEQ standards.
    Maintain strong communication with clients, stakeholders and internal teams.
    Produce monthly progress, design and commercial reports.
    Support innovation, sustainability and carbon‑reduction initiatives across the project portfolio.

    About You

    Experienced Project Manager in structures, highways, or civil engineering.
    Strong planning, programming, and project coordination skills.
    Able to lead multiple schemes at different stages of delivery.
    Solid SHEQ, CDM and temporary works knowledge.
    Strong communicator with proven stakeholder management ability.
    Comfortable being office‑based in Paddington with regular site travel.
