How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Game Developer

    £28-35K per annum

    Caerphilly

    Full time in office first 4-6 weeks

    Hybrid 3 days in office per week thereafter

    24 days holiday + Bank Hols

    Role Overview:
    They are looking for a passionate and technically curious Game Developer (Unity) to join their development team. In this role, you will help build interactive games and immersive experiences for their SaaS platform and bespoke client projects.
    You will work closely with designers, instructional creators, and product managers to bring interactive ideas to life using Unity. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is excited by gameplay programming, interactive systems, and real-time 3D development.
    You will also have opportunities to join client discussions, helping translate creative and technical requirements into engaging playable experiences.

    Key Responsibilities:
    Game & Interactive Development:
    Design, develop, and implement gameplay systems and interactive features using Unity and C#.
    Build and maintain UI systems, player interactions, animations, and basic game mechanics.
    Integrate audio, video, and visual assets into interactive environments.

    Collaboration with Product & Creative Teams:
    Work closely with designers, instructional developers, artists, and product managers to turn concepts into playable experiences.
    Support the implementation of learning mechanics, simulations, and serious games.

    Rapid Prototyping:
    Quickly turn ideas and requirements into playable prototypes for testing and stakeholder review.
    Iterate rapidly based on feedback from internal teams and clients.

    Client Interaction:
    Occasionally attend client meetings to demonstrate builds, explain technical constraints, and gather feedback in a clear, accessible way.

    Performance, Quality & Debugging:
    Identify bugs, optimise performance, and maintain clean, readable, and maintainable code.
    Assist with testing across PC, web, and immersive platforms (where applicable).

    Documentation:
    Document gameplay systems, technical workflows, and development processes to support future development and maintenance.

    Required Skills & Qualifications:
    Technical Skills:

    Proficient in VR technologies.
    Experience developing with Unity and C# (academic, personal, or commercial projects).
    Basic understanding of game systems such as input, physics, animations, UI, and asset integration.
    Familiarity with version control (e.g. Git).

    Communication Skills:
    Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical teammates and clients.
    Confidence to contribute ideas and ask questions.

    Adaptability:
    Thrive in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.
    Comfortable working on multiple prototypes or projects at once.

    Team Player:
    Eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute within a multidisciplinary team.

    Desirable Experience:
    Previous internship, university project, or small commercial project using Unity.
    Experience building for WebGL, PC, VR, or AR.
    Familiarity with 3D workflows, shaders, lighting, or optimisation.
    Understanding of basic game design principles.
    Experience working with interactive learning, simulations, or serious games.
    Driver’s licence (for site visits or client demonstrations).
