How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Court of Protection Fee Earner (Health & Welfare) – Mental Health Panel Member

    HAB Law is an award-winning and rapidly growing law firm specialising in Court of Protection, Health and Welfare matters. Due to continued expansion and increasing demand, we are seeking a Court of Protection Fee Earner (Health & Welfare) who is also a Mental Health Panel Member to join our specialist team.

    This is an excellent opportunity to undertake meaningful and complex legal work while developing your career within a supportive, forward-thinking firm.

    The Role

    You will join a highly regarded Court of Protection team and manage your own varied caseload of Health & Welfare matters, including complex cases involving vulnerable individuals.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Managing a Court of Protection (Health & Welfare) caseload
    • Applications under s.16 and s.21A of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
    • Acting in Legal Aid funded matters, including use of CCMS
    • Liaising with the Official Solicitor and other professionals
    • Drafting applications, witness statements and court documentation
    • Representing clients and providing clear legal advice
    • Supporting and mentoring junior team members
    • Contributing to the continued growth of the department

    About You

    We are looking for a solicitor, legal executive or paralegal who is passionate about Court of Protection work and committed to achieving the best outcomes for vulnerable clients.

    You will ideally have:

    • Mental Health Panel Membership
    • Experience in Court of Protection – Health & Welfare work
    • Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
    • Experience managing your own caseload
    • Legal Aid and CCMS experience (preferred)
    • Excellent drafting, advocacy and client care skills
    • A compassionate, professional and proactive approach
    • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel

    If candidates do not meet the ideal criteria above, we are still interested in hearing from you as training will be provided on Health & Welfare work.
