How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist School - Cheltenham

    Are you a graduate looking to gain hands-on experience supporting children with additional needs in a specialist education setting based in Cheltenham?

    About the Role

    You will be working closely with teaching staff to support pupils with a variety of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and communication needs. The role focuses on building positive relationships, supporting emotional regulation, and helping pupils access learning through adapted and individualised approaches. This is a rewarding but challenging role, ideal for someone with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis within the classroom
    Assisting with differentiated learning activities tailored to individual needs
    Encouraging communication, independence, and social development
    Supporting sensory regulation and structured routines
    Working collaboratively with teachers and wider specialist staff
    Promoting a safe, calm and inclusive learning environmentThe Ideal Candidate:

    Patient, nurturing and emotionally resilient
    Passionate about supporting children with SEMH and other complex needs
    Confident working within structured routines and supportive environments
    Able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils
    Strong behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
    Safeguarding awareness
    Adaptable and proactive in supporting learning and wellbeingCandidates with experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant would be highly beneficial, particularly those with a background supporting autism or complex needs. We also welcome applicants from care, youth work, psychology, or wider support work backgrounds, as well as individuals who have experience working within EHCP-led provision, although this is desirable rather than essential.
