How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    An internationally respected consultancy is looking to appoint a skilled Fire Engineer to join their London fire safety team. The successful Fire Engineer will play a key role in delivering fire strategies for high-profile projects across sectors such as transport, heritage, education, and commercial development.

    This is a great opportunity for a Fire Engineer to take ownership of project work, contribute to fire modelling and design integration, and help shape fire safety strategies from concept through to delivery. The Fire Engineer role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and clients, offering technical variety and ongoing professional development.

Known for their innovative, research-led approach, they have contributed to award-winning and sustainability-driven projects including the UK's first mass timber industrial building and major cultural renovations.

    The Fire Engineer's Role

    Develop and deliver project-specific fire strategies
    Apply UK fire safety legislation and guidance across various sectors
    Collaborate with architects, engineers, and external stakeholders
    Support the use of fire modelling and risk assessment tools
    Participate in technical development and internal knowledge-sharingThe Fire Engineer

    Degree in Fire Engineering, Building Services, or a related subject
    Project management experience within a fire consultancy
