How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Cover Supervisor – Wirral
    Location: Wirral
    Pay: £110–£150 per day

    TeacherActive is seeking a confident and experienced Cover Supervisor to work in a specialist education setting on the Wirral. This role is ideal for someone with proven experience leading lessons and maintaining high standards of behaviour and engagement in the classroom.

    You will play a key role in ensuring continuity of learning during teacher absence, supporting pupils to remain focused, motivated, and engaged throughout the school day.

    The school is a specialist provision supporting pupils who benefit from a personalised and nurturing learning environment. It offers small class sizes, a strong pastoral focus, and a commitment to re-engaging young people with education through positive relationships and clear structure.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead and supervise pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects

    Maintain a calm, safe, and productive learning environment

    Apply strong behaviour management strategies consistently

    Support pupils to engage with learning and complete set work

    Communicate effectively with staff regarding pupil progress and behaviour

    Essential Requirements

    Experience leading lessons in a school or similar setting

    Strong behaviour management skills

    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

    Confidence working with pupils who may present challenging behaviour

    A professional, calm, and adaptable approach

    Desirable

    Experience working in alternative provision or with pupils with additional needs

    Relevant education or youth work qualifications
