How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The successful candidate will check compliance, identify risks, and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken where standards are not met.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead a team of operational building control surveyors, ensuring statutory obligations, service targets, and performance expectations are met.
Manage and lead on major and complex building control applications, working within the BSR competency framework.
Check deposited plans, technical drawings, and associated documents for compliance with Building Regulations and the Building Act.
Prepare schedules of required amendments, negotiate with applicants, and recommend approval or rejection within statutory timeframes and service KPIs.
Conduct site inspections to assess compliance, safety, sustainability, accessibility, and design quality.
Support and initiate enforcement action where non‑compliance occurs.
Carry out annual safety inspections at designated venues, advising on matters affecting public safety.
Provide professional guidance to support major corporate and strategic projects.
Contribute to a strong performance culture focused on service excellence, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Support the Building Control Manager and senior leadership team as required.

Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, the Building Act, and enforcement processes
Ability to interpret drawings, technical data, and compliance documentation
Confident decision‑maker with strong communication and negotiation skills
Must be registered (or eligible for registration) with the Building Safety Regulator
