How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Specialist Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant (Full Time and temporary)

    Location: Southampton

    Start Date:  April 2026 – July 2026

    Contract: Long-Term (potentially permanent)

    Institution: KS1– Year 2- 1:1 with a child with SEMH

    Pay: £85-£92  per day 

    About the Role

    We are seeking a Social, Emotional and Mental Health  Specialist Teaching Assistant who has experience with those with Autism, SEMH and challenging behaviour to join an Ofsted Rated “Good” school in Southampton This rewarding role involves supporting students with additional needs both 1:1 or with 2 children maximum, helping them to access learning and achieve their full potential.” The role will be starting from April 2026 until July 2026 with the school looking to make the position permanent for the right person.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide 1:1 support to students with SEMH
    Assist small groups of students in accessing lessons and structured activities.
    Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual needs.
    Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interactions.
    Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to implement personalised learning plans.
    Monitor progress and maintain accurate records.
    Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all learners.
    Requirements

    Previous experience supporting students with SEMH or other additional needs (school or care setting).
    Strong understanding of trauma, SEMH and associated learning/behavioural needs.
    Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
    Excellent communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
    Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality practices.
    Enhanced DBS check (support available if required).
