How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you passionate about supporting young people with complex needs and learning disabilities?
Do you have experience helping individuals who need additional support with communication, independence, or emotional regulation?
Are you patient, compassionate, and ready to make a meaningful difference every day?

We are working with a specialist educational setting in Bridgwater that supports children and young people with a range of additional needs. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment for pupils with autism spectrum condition (ASC), social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and complex learning and communication difficulties.

The setting places a strong emphasis on developing independence, confidence, and essential life skills, alongside personalised academic and vocational learning. Every pupil is supported to reach their full potential through tailored approaches, strong relationships, and a holistic focus on wellbeing.

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant / SEND TA to join a committed and supportive team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in education, care, or youth work who is looking to build their experience within a specialist environment. Full training and ongoing professional development are provided.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

Support pupils both in the classroom and through practical, real-life learning opportunities

Work closely with teaching staff to deliver individual learning plans

Encourage communication, engagement, and emotional wellbeing

Help pupils build independence and essential life skills

Provide consistent, nurturing support tailored to each learner’s needs

    What we’re looking for:

Experience working with children or young people with additional needs and/or disabilities

Understanding of (or willingness to learn about) ASC, SEMH, and complex communication needs

A patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach

Experience in education, care, or youth support settings

Confidence in managing behaviour positively and proactively

Access to your own transport is desirable due to the location

    What you’ll receive:

A dedicated consultant available 24/7 to support you throughout your placement

Guaranteed Payment Scheme (Terms & Conditions apply)

Access to high-quality CPD via the My-Progression platform

    Competitive, market-leading rates of pay

Referral bonus – earn up to £100 when you refer a friend (Terms & Conditions apply)

PAYE payment system with no hidden admin fees

If you’re ready to take on a rewarding role where you can genuinely impact the lives of young people with complex needs, we’d love to hear from you.
