How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    B3 Engineer – Surface and Highways Structures

    Contract | £474.40 per day (umbrella) | London | Shift Work including Nights

    Ceto Talent is recruiting for a B3 Engineer to join a growing Surface and Highways Structures team based across the London network. This is a site-based delivery role requiring attendance across a variety of shift patterns, including days, nights, and some weekend working. We are looking for candidates with strong reinforced concrete experience and a thorough understanding of quality assurance inspection — those with job titles such as Section Engineer, Sub-Agent, or Package Manager are particularly encouraged to apply.

    Essential Requirements

    * Proven experience delivering or inspecting reinforced concrete elements on behalf of a client or Works Examiner, including the ability to read reinforcement drawings and inspect works on site against these.

    * Demonstrated ability to name and apply key inspection items for quality assurance on reinforced concrete works.

    * Experience delivering or inspecting structural steelwork on behalf of a client or Works Examiner.

    * Experience reviewing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) against contract specification and undertaking independent examination of contractor works.

    * Experience delivering highways works, including structures, waterproofing, and surfacing.

    * Experience acting as Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) or actively working towards the required competency.

    * Knowledge of legislation, technical standards, and industry best practice relevant to engineering delivery.

    * Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental considerations applicable to construction and temporary works.

    * Experience of project handover and closeout.

    * HNC, BEng, or MEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent.

    * Valid CSCS card.

    * SSSTS or SMSTS.

    * Valid UK driving licence.

    Desirable (Not Essential)

    * IEng level or above with the Institution of Civil Engineers.

    * Experience acting as Works Examiner.

    * Harness training and/or confined space entry.

    * CITB TWC or evidence of working at the required level.

    Key Responsibilities

    As B3 Engineer, you will supervise the construction of civil engineering assets across the London network, ensuring permanent works are delivered in compliance with the approved design. You will carry out independent technical assurance and inspection of works, ensuring compliance with the approved Inspection Test Plan, and report daily to the Senior Engineer. You will be responsible for ensuring site works are covered day to day and will deliver a daily shift report at the end of each shift, highlighting any quality observations and non-conformances. Site location will vary from project to project, with the expectation of being on-site a minimum of 80% of the time, with occasional office visits required.
