How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Process Design Engineer

    West Coast Scotland (Beith)

    Permanent

Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing are supporting a highly specialised global engineering business as they look to appoint a Process Design Engineer into their UK team.

This is a brand new role, created to establish process engineering capability in the UK, supporting a long-standing US parent with decades of proprietary design expertise.

    The Opportunity

This is a front-end, process design-focused role, sitting at the intersection of engineering and commercial delivery.

You won’t be running a plant - instead, you’ll be:

    designing solutions

    interpreting customer requirements

    producing technical proposals

supporting the sales process from an engineering perspective

It’s ideal for someone who enjoys the problem-solving, analytical and design side of process engineering, rather than day-to-day operations.

    What You’ll Be Doing

Reviewing and triaging incoming technical enquiries

Interpreting process data, customer specs and datasheets

Carrying out process design calculations and equipment sizing

Developing budget estimates and progressing to detailed proposals

Supporting ongoing technical clarifications with customers (often over extended timelines)

Contributing to both new equipment and aftermarket / retrofit enquiries

Working closely with the US process engineering team, learning established design rules and legacy systems

    What We’re Looking For

We’re open on experience level — this could suit someone early in their career or a more experienced engineer — but the key is a strong foundation in process design principles.

    You will likely have:

A degree in Chemical Engineering / Process Engineering (or similar)

A genuine interest in process design and engineering calculations

Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability

Confidence to make decisions and work independently

Ability to manage multiple live enquiries and priorities

Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage customers technically

    Desirable experience:

    Heat transfer / thermal processes

Oil & gas, petrochemical or related process industries

Exposure to ASME or similar design standards

Experience in applications, proposals or front-end engineering

    Why This Role is Different

You will work on a role with focus on engineering thinking and design

You’ll work on bespoke, technically complex solutions, not standardised processes

You’ll gain exposure to decades of proprietary design knowledge

You’ll play a key role in building the UK engineering capability from the ground up

    Package & Benefits

    Competitive salary depending on experience

    Profit share scheme

    Enhanced pension contribution

    Early finish on Fridays

    Strong overall benefits package

    Next Steps

If you’re a Process / Chemical Engineer who enjoys the design, analytical and problem-solving side of engineering, this is a fantastic opportunity to step into a role with real impact and long-term development.
