How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A leading international fire engineering consultancy is seeking a Fire Engineer to join their growing team.

    This is an exciting opportunity for a technically driven Fire Engineer to contribute to complex and high-profile projects while developing their career within a globally recognised fire safety consultancy.

    The successful Fire Engineer will work alongside experienced engineers and specialists to deliver innovative fire safety solutions across a wide range of building types.

    This Fire Engineer role offers exposure to technically challenging projects while supporting clients in creating safe, compliant and resilient buildings.

    The Fire Engineer's Role

    Preparing fire strategies for a wide range of building projects
    Applying guidance including ADB, BS 9991, BS 9999, BS 7974, HTM and BB100
    Leading discussions with project teams, building control and fire authorities
    Managing medium to large projects including technical delivery and client coordination
    Preparing fee proposals and supporting project management tasks
    Acting as a key technical contact for clients and project teams
    Attending industry events and maintaining awareness of emerging fire engineering practicesThe Fire Engineer

    Degree qualified in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
    Experience working within a fire engineering consultancy environment
    Working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional recognition
    Strong technical understanding of fire safety design and regulations
    Ability to manage work independently and contribute to project delivery
