How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

A generous salary of £36,000 - £45,000 is offered to successful candidates based on their experience, along with up to 31 days of annual leave. You will also be able to take full advantage of eight public holidays per year and an extra day off at Christmas.

You can achieve the work-life balance you've always wanted. The council places huge commitment on providing ample time for relaxation and personal pursuits means you can enjoy life outside of work to the fullest.

Your work-life balance is of great value to this Council. They offer a flexible working approach that blends remote and office-based work for most roles. This flexibility empowers you to tailor your work environment to your needs, ensuring you can maintain a healthy balance between your professional and personal life.

You will also be offered numerous career development opportunities through a range of training courses and learning methods. You'll have the chance to continuously expand your skill set, climb the career ladder, and reach your full potential.

Reduce the financial stress of commuting with our interest-free season ticket loan. You can repay it over three or ten months, making your daily journey to work more affordable and convenient.

You’ll also be offered an excellent pension through the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). This benefit ensures that your future is financially secure, allowing you to enjoy your retirement with peace of mind. By joining, you will invest in your long-term financial well-being.

You’ll also have access to an Employee Assistance Program for advice and counselling services, and this also accessible for your family members too. As an added benefit towards your physical and emotional wellbeing, the council also offers discounts to Health and Leisure centres and a tax-free bike option for cycling to work.

Your approach will be grounded in the principles of personalisation and a strengths-based methodology, empowering individuals to achieve their highest level of independence. You will be developing support plans through collaborative efforts with service users, ensuring the best value and fostering community inclusion. Additionally, you'll be tasked with the management of complex caseloads and stepping into frontline duty responsibilities, making a profound impact on the lives of those who rely on our services.
