How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Company Overview

    Our client is a rapidly growing passive fire protection specialist delivering compliant fire safety solutions across the UK. With headquarters in the Yorkshire area and other regional offices in the UK, they work nationwide with a varied client base across multiple sectors. The business provides accredited services including fire stopping, fire door installation and maintenance, cavity barriers, fire risk assessments, and ongoing compliance maintenance.

    The business operates across sectors such as social housing, student accommodation, commercial, healthcare, education, and hospitality, with a strong focus on compliance, transparency, and long-term client partnerships.

    Due to continued growth and market demand for compliant fire safety services, the company is seeking a Head of Business Development to drive national growth, build strategic partnerships, and establish a scalable sales function, along with enabling operational and commercial teams to grow with the business.

    Role Overview

    The Head of Business Development will lead the commercial growth strategy for the business, dealing with retain accounts, developing key client relationships and driving new opportunities across different revenue streams for construction, housing, facilities and property services sectors.

    This role will be responsible for identifying new markets, building strategic partnerships with various clients across estate management, consultants, main contractors, developers, housing providers, NHS trusts amongst other areas, whilst establishing a structured sales pipeline and business growth plan that supports the company’s ambitions.

    The successful candidate will combine industry expertise, strong commercial leadership, and a network within the fire protection market.

    Key Responsibilities

    · Develop and implement a national business development strategy aligned with company growth plans.

    · Identify and secure new opportunities across target sectors including:

    o Social housing

    o Main contractors

    o Developers

    o Asset managers

    o Education and healthcare estates

    · Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline of passive fire protection projects and maintenance frameworks.

    · Lead strategic client engagement and key account management.

    · Promote the company’s expertise in fire stopping, fire doors, compartmentation, FRAs and compliance services.

    · Represent the company at industry events, networking functions, and trade bodies.

    · Work closely with the estimating and operational teams to convert opportunities into secured work.

    · Support tender strategy and negotiation for small to large scale projects.

    · Develop key account strategies for target clients.

    · Help position the company as a trusted compliance-led partner within the fire protection sector.

    · Build and lead a structured business development team as the company grows.

    · Implement CRM processes, pipeline reporting, and sales forecasting.

    Key Deliverables

    · Develop a robust pipeline of secured and prospective projects.

    · Win strategic contracts and framework agreements.

    · Increase company visibility within the passive fire protection market.

    · Support revenue growth and market expansion across the UK.
