How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Graduate Fire Engineer to join their expanding fire engineering team.

    This role is ideal for an ambitious Graduate Fire Engineer looking to start their career within a respected fire engineering team delivering innovative and sustainable building design solutions.

    Working alongside experienced engineers, the Graduate Fire Engineer will support fire engineering strategies across a range of projects including residential, commercial, industrial and public sector developments.

    The Graduate Fire Engineer's Role

    Supporting the development of fire engineering strategies across multiple projects
    Assisting with fire safety design from early concept stages through to construction
    Contributing to technical analysis and fire engineering calculations
    Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including architects and building engineers
    Attending project meetings and assisting with project delivery
    Learning to apply UK fire safety regulations and guidance within real-world projectsThe Graduate Fire Engineer

    Degree or Master's qualification in Fire Engineering or a related Engineering discipline
    Strong interest in fire safety engineering and the built environment
    Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
    Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
    Good communication and organisational abilities
