Building Maintenance Technician / Handyman
Central Scotland (+ other Scottish sites) | Full-Time, Permanent | Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm
TJ Search is recruiting for a hands-on, dependable Building Maintenance Technician to join our corporate client's FM operations team. If you're the type who takes pride in a job well done, knows your way around a toolbox, and likes variety in your day then this one's for you.
You'll be out and about across the Central Scotland region - and occasionally further afield to looking after 3 sites in the North Of England - keeping commercial properties running exactly as they should. No two days look the same, and that's what makes this role genuinely rewarding for someone who loves working with their hands.
What the Job Looks Like Day-to-Day
* Carrying out general maintenance and handyperson work across a range of commercial sites
* Tackling small plumbing jobs, carpentry repairs, carpet tile fitting, and stair nosing installs
* Keeping things tidy - gutter cleaning, vegetation clearance, and the like
* PAT testing electrical equipment as needed
* Sourcing materials and kit to get jobs done right
* Working alongside other tradespeople when the job calls for it and picking up new skills along the way
* Logging completed work via a mobile app (simple, nothing complicated)
What We're Looking For
* Solid, proven experience in a similar maintenance or multi-trade role
* A broad skillset across trades the more strings to your bow, the better
* Good people skills - you'll be dealing with clients and site contacts regularly
* Comfortable with a mobile device and basic IT (Outlook, Excel - nothing fancy)
* Self-motivated and able to crack on independently without being chased
* Full, clean driving licence - essential (van/vehicle provided for business use)
Nice to Have (But Not Dealbreakers)
* Background in property services or facilities management
* IPAF or PASMA training
* Experience with compliance or specialist trade certifications
