How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Youth Worker – Secondary Schools

    Location: South Yorkshire
Pay Rate: £100–£120 per day (dependent on experience)
    Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
    Contract: Full-time / Long-term opportunities available

PK Education are currently recruiting Youth Workers to support secondary schools across South Yorkshire. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and helping them succeed both academically and personally within the school environment.

As a Youth Worker in a secondary school setting, you will be working closely with students who may require additional support to remain engaged in education. Some pupils may have additional learning needs, behavioural challenges, or simply benefit from having a positive role model within the school. Your role will focus on building strong relationships with students, offering encouragement, and helping them develop confidence, resilience, and positive behaviours.

    The Role

You will support students both in and out of the classroom, providing 1:1 and small group support to help them remain engaged with their learning. The role involves mentoring students, supporting behaviour management strategies, and helping young people develop positive routines and social skills. You will work alongside teachers, pastoral teams, and SEND staff to ensure students feel supported throughout the school day and are able to access their education successfully.

    Requirements

We are looking for individuals who have experience working with young people or transferable skills from roles such as youth work, sports coaching, care work, mentoring, or community support. Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with young people are essential. Candidates must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one, be aged 18 or over, and be able to provide professional references covering recent employment.

    Why Work with PK Education

PK Education offer competitive daily pay and weekly PAYE payments, along with the support of a dedicated recruitment consultant who will help match you with schools that suit your experience. You will also have access to training and CPD opportunities to help you develop your skills within education. There are opportunities for both long-term placements and permanent roles within supportive schools across South Yorkshire.

    Ready to Make a Difference?

If you are passionate about supporting young people and want to play a key role in helping students succeed, we would love to hear from you. Apply now or contact PK Education to find out more about Youth Worker opportunities in secondary schools across South Yorkshire
